Welcome to an innovative art concept that combines sculpture, photography and storytelling around a suiseki rock. Suiseki are naturally formed stones, resembling faces, animals or other creatures.
This is a unique rock, sculpted by nature, found at the beach. This is a unique sculpture crafted by human hands. This is the story of a rock. I bring the “rock face” to life by sculpting a ceramic body around it. This new being will return to the place where it "lived" before becoming a fictional character. I photograph its details and expressions which will inspire the creation of a story. Contrary to the conventional, the illustration precedes and inspires the narrative making the photos the catalyst for writing a story. And this is how rocks talk to you...

The unexpected last minute invitation was received with great enthusiasm by the leaders of the Planet Rock. The Wise Speaker had been delivering speeches in hundreds of universes, for millions of years but this would be his very first time going to the Milky Way Galaxy. The magical technology spaceship took him to Planet Earth located in the suburb of the galaxy, in one of its spiral arms. Once there, he arrived on a sunny piece of land by the blue area called the Atlantic Ocean. Their sun was getting low on the horizon and he thought with some concern that he might be late. The spaceship got access to the interior of the cubic construction through one of its hexagonal windows, framed by neon lights. There were rows of velvet blue chairs, exotic fruits on the tables and a speech zone decorated in crystal and silver. It was disconcerting to see an empty room though... not one single living being there, except for tiny creatures flying over the food.
The Wise Speaker waited but no one arrived. Perhaps, he thought, the attendees were invisible to his old eyes. Still, the purpose of the long interstellar trip must be fulfilled,so he decided to give the speech anyway. The invisible audience were facing a being of great culture with an open mind. His tolerance and reasonableness (the first words he learned before arriving) were well known across the universes. Inspiration never left him because he is a soul full of imagination who writes poetry about Black Holes and the Giant Void but otherwise has no distinguishing gifts in the political field. He was able to transmit the essentials of his knowledge to the invisible audience before thirty minutes of Planet Earth time had passed.
Once finished, the Wise Speaker waited for questions such as "could there be an edge of the universe?" but no one talked. He ate some snacks, said his goodbyes and went for a walk on the beach. Only half of the sun was visible on the horizon, the whole place was lit by an orange glow and the birds chirped loudly. Out of the blue, his fragile body started showing signs of restlessness. The anemone on his back got so excited that its tentacles tickled his bald head making him laugh in a hoarse voice. The fish on his shoulders got cold and, to his surprise, the pink shell on his back, vibrated a sad melody, like the convulsions of a long moan. The melody was so sad that he could not breath. It echoed softly through the rocks and shivered in a frequency that resonated through each nerve running down his ears into his feet.
The Wise Speaker felt the sound of origins quavering underground. The strange déjà vu feeling blurred boundaries between memory, grief and love; then, now and future. Closer to the water, he could confirm this feeling. He put the one ear he had next to the sea bubbles and listened to a familiar high-pitched sound as they burst. Looking around, all the known beautiful things from the past surrounded him as a hug of nature. "I wish I knew who invited me here to deliver this speech ...", he wondered as he searched his soul.
The Wise Speaker walked along the shore, focused on the sudden memory of a distant day. Soft golden sand with just the right comforting warmth, rolling waves, the smell of salty seaweed... also a feeling of love... he decided not to leave that night. Closing his tired eyes, a thought appeared in the form of a bright cloud: "Tomorrow will be a perfect day".
