Welcome to an innovative art concept that combines sculpture, photography, and storytelling around a suiseki rock. Suiseki are naturally formed stones, resembling faces, animals, or other creatures.
This is a unique rock, sculpted by nature, found at the beach. This is a unique sculpture crafted by human hands. This is the story of a rock. I bring the “rock face” to life by sculpting a ceramic body around it. This new being will return to the place where it "lived" before becoming a fictional character. I photograph its details and expressions, which will inspire the creation of a story. Contrary to the conventional, the illustration precedes and inspires the narrative, making the photos the catalyst for writing a story. And this is how rocks talk to you...
The Ocean Lizard will have its own story soon.
The lizard couldn't remember how and when the Confusion Robot had appeared on his back. He was very grateful for the countless times it was helpful since they live together as one.The robot was very perceptive and, as its name suggests, it could only be used in case of sudden confusion. The Ocean Lizard was very confused about the running creature so this was the right moment to get advice.
"Tell me, Confusion Robot, what kind of creature is it and what is it running away from?", the lizard asked in a slow distinct voice. He had to make sure the robot understood well as there were times before when misunderstandings only added to the confusion.
"Will you please turn around so that I can see the creature?", the Confusion Robot asked, talking so fast that it was hardly understandable.
"You always talk that fast after a long exposure to the sun", the lizard thought to himself, with a giggle, turning around slowly and repeatedly because the robot was blind in one eye.
The creature kept running by the shore, in both directions, again and again, for no apparent reason. The lizard's mouth fell open when seeing its unpredictable jumps and weird movements. After several rotations, the lizard stopped and the Confusion Robot started speaking: "That creature is a male human with a fantastic mind and a perfect heart. He has been alive for a half-century and comes from a distant land. The red shiny face is due to his skin's sensitivity to full sun, as opposed to us, lizards and robots". The lizard remained silent as the Confusion Robot blinked his one eye several times. This was a sign that more was about to be said. "Believe it or not, he is not running away, he just doesn't want to get bigger, as opposed to us, lizards and robots", the robot said. Some more eye blinks before the robot added, with a confused look: "I'm as surprised as you are! Please notice that I used extra energy to ensure this information is correct and that my system is not playing tricks on me".
The Ocean Lizard was listening to the robot's analysis, when, unexpectedly, the human run into the sea.
"Hurry, hurry! Let's get up on that rock to not lose sight of him!", they spoke in one voice.
The creature swam fast and far from the shore. "Hopefully he isn't being chased by a big fish", they thought at the same time. Maybe he is just looking for a good meal...
The creature came out of the water, walking slowly and curved. His face wasn't red anymore. In the contrary, it was bluish at first, then purple, getting to pink tone again. "Look, Confusion Robot! He can change color, like my cousin, Robert Chameleon!", the lizard exclaimed with great excitement.
"Turn around, please! Let me see!", asked the very confused Confusion Robot. So the Ocean Lizard turned around again and again because the robot was blind in one eye.
